2016 Campaign Results Announcement

Our 2016 Campaign Results are in! $1,464,501! The amount, bolstered by the $500,000 dollar-for-dollar matching grant in partnership with the 1889 Foundation, will go directly back into programming and services determined through the United Ways grant allocation process.

"We are extremely grateful to all of those who support the United Way's work in our community.  Everyone should know that their contributions will change the lives of many in a positive way said Bill McKinney, President and CEO of the United Way. "These funds allow us to address key community issues by funding several proven, evidence-based programs that are preventing our youth from drug and alcohol abuse, preparing our children socially, emotionally, and academically for kindergarten, and increasing parental knowledge of child development and care.  Measurable results are already occurring with the programming".

Over the past year, we have made great strides in the community.  As a lead community organization we were one of the original founders of the Cambria County Drug Coalition, the recently introduced expansion of 24/7 coverage for the free human service helpline, 2-1-1, and have been successful in obtaining $255,000 in state funding to introduce Nurse-Family Partnership home visitation programming into Somerset County.

We are an independent, volunteer driven, community leading organization, responsible for creating, expanding, and accelerating positive social change in Cambria and Somerset Counties.  Our main social change initiatives are; preparing all children socially, emotionally, and academically for kindergarten; increasing parental knowledge of child development and care, and; preventing substance abuse among our youth.
