The Botvin LifeSkills Training (LST) is the #1 rated evidence-based youth development program. Implemented in schools all over the U.S. and in 36 countries around the world, Botvin LST fosters youth development by teaching personal coping skills, general social skills, and skills for resisting pressures to smoke, drink, use drugs, and engage in other risk behaviors.
In 2011-2012, the United Way of the Laurel Highlands and Key Community Stakeholders began implementing the Botvin LifeSkills Training (BLST) Program in various school districts across Cambria and Somerset Counties. During that year, BLST was administered to a cohort of approximately 160 students. In 2016-2017, we estimate that over 7500 students will receive LifeSkills Training, which is approximately 65% of the total student population grades 3-8 in both Cambria and Somerset Counties.
