The United Way of the Laurel Highlands
For 50 years, Organized Labor and the United Way have maintained an effective partnership benefiting our entire community. By supporting our local United Way, we help ensure the availability of many services to our members and their families, and to the entire community at large. Additionally, our local United Way is taking the lead in creating long-term social change, especially with our youth, by supporting the Botvin LifeSkills program in all 24 school districts in Cambria and Somerset counties. This #1, nationally rated evidence-based program, fosters youth development by teaching personal coping skills, general social skills, and skills for resisting pressures to smoke, drink, use drugs, and engage in other risky behaviors.
