United Way Days of Action

Welcome to the United Way of the Southern Alleghenies volunteer page!

If you are an individual, company, or local organization who would like to volunteer in either Cambria or Somerset Counties, we invite you to reach out to us by email to start lending a helping hand in the community. Commonly, those who volunteer through the United Way are connected with local organizations who are helping to meet the most pressing needs of our communities. Volunteers will commonly help with food distributions, community beautification days, community garden projects, backpack programs, and many other specific efforts happening in the community!

We welcome all who would like to participate in these types of events!

If you, or your organization, would like to become involved with United Way volunteering, we ask that you reach out to us by sending an email to admin@uwlaurel.org. Also, reference the "Volunteer Opportunities" listing below.

United Way Days of Action

Glendale drive

Kicking off on June 21, United Way Days of Action are a time to improve and engage our community. Last year, we began our first ever diaper drive to support the formation of our Diaper Bank. Knowing one in every three families faces diaper need, this is a tangible way to help our neighbors.

To host a diaper drive, simply reach out to us (email admin@unitedwaysa.org, or call 814-535-2563) and we'll help you plan and promote the event. Businesses, organizations and civic groups are welcome to participate.

This year's "Action Days" will culminate with the Power of the Purse on Sept. 8.

Once collected, the diapers will be sorted by size into lots of 25 diapers to be distributed to partner sites across Cambria and Somerset Counties. Hosting a diaper drive at any point in the year is a great way to support parents and young children across our region. Diapers help us to ensure babies are clean, dry, and healthy.
